Introduction

How to Minimise Your Micromanagement Triggers

The introspective work we've done might be leading you to think about deeper issues. Why do you micromanage certain individuals? When you think about the word "trigger" in the title here, you might be reminded about a counselling, therapy, or coaching context.

I believe that for many people, micromanagement is a consequence of more fundamental problems. These challenges are beyond the scope of this course. I personally think that the best way to address them would be in trusted partnership with an individual such as a counsellor, a therapist, or a coach. However, the reality is that that requires a long-term journey.

Yet the people you're managing are going to need you to show up and make some immediate improvements. Otherwise, you risk losing them as well. I understand that working with a counsellor, therapist, or coach isn't for everyone, for a variety of reasons. That's why the point of this course overall is to still be helpful.

Regardless of what you do and how you approach this work, it's to give you actionable strategies that you can take Monday morning to try to address your behaviours and not micromanage your team members.
