Introducing Prioritization
Let's begin our exploration of problem solving. Arguably, the biggest problem we universally face is deciding which problem to solve. This boils down to prioritization—how do we prioritize everything we need to do in our lives?
The Importance of Prioritization
Whether your goal is to be successful in business, have a successful career, or succeed in your personal life, prioritization is crucial. Choosing the right projects and tasks to focus on is essential to achieving your goals. We make thousands of tiny decisions on a daily basis, but the big decisions—like which project to choose—are the most impactful. Which problem should I solve? Which problem should I work on? in order for me to get closer to my goal.
The Art of Prioritization
The art of prioritization is a lifelong challenge. The better we become at solving this problem, the better we become at solving all other problems. It has the single biggest impact on our success.
Proven Techniques for Prioritization
In the next video, I will share two proven and commonly used techniques for prioritization, used by top CEOs and professionals. These techniques can also be applied to your personal life.
Exercise
Before moving on to the next video, take a moment to reflect and complete the following exercise:
- Self-Assessment: Think about how you are currently solving the problem of prioritization. Do you have a system in place? Have you thought deeply about what to work on?
- Create a System: Develop a system for prioritizing tasks and projects in your life to achieve your most important goals. Consider different approaches, such as choosing tasks that are most important, most profitable, easiest, hardest, etc.
Take 30 seconds to a minute, or even two, to write down your thoughts and create your system. This exercise will help you think on your feet and think deeply about problem solving.
