Goal Setting Exercise: Create Wishes Part 1
Let's introduce a practical goal-setting exercise that you can apply to your real life. Follow along with the example provided, and then complete the exercise on your own with the guidance given.
Step 1: Identify Life Categories
First, identify the major categories in your life where you want to see fulfillment and advancement. These categories might include:
- Career
- Business (if applicable)
- Family
- Personal Life
- Health
- Passions and Hobbies
Feel free to adjust these categories to fit your personal situation. For example, if you don't have a business, you can remove that category.
Step 2: List Your Wishes
Next, in the second column, list your wishes for each life category. Remember, wishes are not yet goals. They are aspirations or desires you have for each area of your life. Here are some examples:
- Career: Become a manager, senior manager, or CEO.
- Business: Make a life-changing amount of money to eliminate financial worries.
- Health: Lose weight, consume less sugar.
- Passions: Write more poetry, become a famous musician.
Exercise Instructions

- Fill Out the Columns: Write down your life categories in the first column and your corresponding wishes in the second column.
- Prepare for the Next Step: In the next video, we will transform these wishes into specific, measurable, and time-bound goals.
Next Steps
In the next video, we will cover the second step of this exercise: turning your wishes into actionable goals. These goals will be specific, measured by key performance indicators (KPIs), and time-bound. This will help you create a plan to achieve them, making them more than just thoughts in your head.
Motivation and Mindfulness
Your goals will be rooted in your mindfulness practices and your identification of your life purpose, making them highly motivating and actionable. This is a crucial part of what we aim to achieve in this course.
Go ahead and complete your first two columns, and I'll see you in the next video for the second part of this exercise.
